On February 16, 1923 -- 88 years ago this week -- archaeologists in Egypt opened the tomb of King Tut. Whoa! Scary! I never would have opened the tomb for fear that a mummy might emerge and chase me down the block. On the other hand, if I grabbed a loose piece of the mummy's outfit and ran like the wind, he would unwind like a roll of toilet paper. That would be funny! I'm not saying I've done that with the toilet paper but, if I had, it would have been funny. Above, you can see one of the recently discovered tablets of the Egyptian Rosetta Stone. The English translation for the distinctive symbol in the third column means, literally, "totally awesome."
Can you believe we've already come to the end of one year since I started my weekly blog? As promised, I've brought you interesting photos from history, or just photos I like, every week for one full year. Next week will be the last of my weekly blogs.
